When you ask a stand builder to design your stand, they often take your brochure and project it on the booth's walls. How exciting (no).
But if you compete with 200+ other booths, you need a WOW design.
This is the 3d piece of the puzzle for show success (see my take on part 1 and part 2 in my previous post).
But stand builders keep beating the same old drum, and that's why you see so many identical, non-distinguishable stands at the shows.
Despite the fact that you are spending half of your marketing budget on this show, you are bound to accept an average design just because stand builders leave you little choice.
What are the alternatives?
1) Hire a branding agency to come up with the jaw-dropping design and send it to the stand-builder for implementation.
You can, but it doubles your stand budget.
Plus, chances are high that the implementation will be a bumpy road – starting with expensive quotes for custom elements like round-edged walls, wrong material choice, wrong color shades, too thin walls, etc.
2) Employ an in-house designer with 3D design and spatial design competencies.
An in-house person can supervise implementation with a tight grip on the stand builder, but still no guarantees – designers might not know the ins and outs of construction processes.
